Our Instructors

Caitlin Bergendahl

Caitlin Bergendahl has been a potter for over a decade, with interest in both wheel thrown and hand built functional ceramic pieces. She's also a mixed media dabbler, has a master's degree in teaching adult learners, and is a frequent volunteer at Richmond Animal Care & Control.  When she's not puttering in the clay studio, you can find her baking, gardening, kayaking, hiking, fostering critters, consulting, or hosting workshops at Quarry RVA. She is the undisputed sales champion of Bizarre Market 2023 and retains all bragging rights.

Kris Blake

Kris Blake took her first hand-building class in 2019 and was immediately hooked on clay. A lover of all things arts and crafts, Kris loves experimenting with new ideas and challenges. When not playing with clay in her spare time you can probably find her making a mess with hand-dyed textiles, crocheting something random, or kayaking in the James (if it’s warm).

Aaron Webb - Filthy Habit Ceramics

Aaron Webb is a Richmond artist with a degree in Art Education from VCUarts. She has been teaching a wide variety of visual arts courses to 5th-12th grade students for the past 12 years. She is delighted to now also be joining the creative community at Carved in Mud Studios!

Aaron’s work covers a variety of art mediums and has been featured in juried exhibits and art markets in the Richmond area. As a child, Aaron had a mud workshop in her backyard. In the Fall of 2010, when she discovered ceramics, she realized she had re-discovered her favorite “filthy habit” of creating with earth. Aaron believes the process of creation nurtures our joy and human connection. She loves all things weird and wonderful. When she’s not teaching art or creating weird clay creatures she’s spending time with her husband and toddler son.
